Is there a Thread for "Bikes one has owned" and "never should have sold"

Mountain Cycle San Andreas is still on my bucket list. Wouldn't mind a pre-99 Breezer either for that matter.

Wish I had kept my 92 Rocky Mountain Experience, wish I had not cracked my fillet brazed Brodie Sovereign and still on the hunt for a pre-93 Bontranger Race Lite.... also always wanted a pre 93 Yeti FRO.

Bike that surprised me the most - 1994 Diamond Back Axis - with that True Temper TT-Lite tube set it was a seriously over looked bike back in the day IMHO.

Bike that I beat the hell out of, and it made me a better rider for all the abuse I threw at it, my team issue 1990 Rocky Mountain Equipe. That bike went though hell and back with me.

Ironically I once owned 2006 Trek 8000 - bought it from a semi-sponsored rider who had only raced it twice and was down on his luck.

Swapped a bunch parts, built up a killer set of mavic wheels for it... located a NOS Syncros stem and Ritchey WCS bar... came in at 23.8 lbs with the continental kevlar tires.... had it for three years...

But I have never missed it.

It was seriously a beautiful bike. Nothing I could actually complain about it. But it never felt "right" for me if that makes sense.

Sold it (kept my wheels and saddle) to a friend getting into XC racing and bought a 2000 Rocky Mountain Hammer Race and been happy ever since. Go figure eh.

I asked when they selected me to ride for them (as my sponsor) if I could have a TT, but I wasn't good enough (aka only a privateer/semi-pro) so I only qualified for the Axis with the custom True Temper TT-Lite tubing - same geometry though.

They were epic bikes.

I gave mine back 4 months into the season as my day job was not allowing time to race but always missed that bike.

Just this last week (31 years later), I kid you not, I picked up a 1994 Axis complete (minus seatpost and seat) for $30.xx CDN. Can't wait to build it up.

One stands out, an early Klein Attitude polished. Took me and my wife all round London, and served me as a work bike day in day out until I foolishly sold it. Doh!
