Is the future Orange - or something else?

Picked this up at the weekend because I recognised some Orangey bits (not the paint job :) ),
wishbone stay, triple cable guides, rear canti guide and dropouts but having got it home and stripped the bits off it I am having some doubts. Top and down tubes are ovalised at the welds, no integrated seat tube clamp, headtube is 1 1/8. Serial number under bb is CV67**** , original colour metalic blue as in the pic of the steerer. Any suggestions!

Cheers

Re:

I reckon it's a Giant. Those forks look very like a set of Giant forks I have in the garage, even the blue colour.

Er ... it walks and talks a bit like a duck but I am a bit sceptical. My handle shows that I have spent a little too much time with Halifax steel. The rear brake stop and rack bosses scream C16R. And def not P7 because of the rack bosses. But then things get a little dodgy. The seat tube split faces to the rear. Very un-Orange. At least post ‘92. The rear dropouts are un-Orange...yes, one guard boss, but not two. And the finish on the drop-out to tube joints would not pass muster in the O factory. The forks are un-Orange too. Obviously not f6s, but could they be earlier Clockwork forks? I don’t think so - no Orange forks had pannier bosses if my memory serves. Really sorry - looks good - but doens’t look very Orange....

Re:

Er .... sorry also just seen plastic plug in the bottom of the top seatstay tube. All oranges have a welded plug I am afraid, not a plastic insert. Sorry.

Re:

Xerxes looks on the money. Giant then. Basically an orange copy, like the titanium reds. All the better for it too.

Re:

Ah well, I will cancel the sandblast and spray! It will hang about for a bit then probably the recycling project. Thanks for that guys.
