Is it a Zaskar?

Re:

Do you have the proper Judy arch for it though? I have a few spares....

GT and RS just go together so well......

Not sure if I've got the proper arch, I'll check when I'm home tomorrow.

I hear you about the frame fork combination. My original idea was to build a catalogue Zaskar LE with Judys and XTR, then I saw the Pantera and thought it would still work.

Then saw the RC36s hanging in the shed and was distracted.

I have a Zaskar will almost full XT738/9, Rockshox Judy XC and the only upgrades are Azonic bar / stem / and Middleburn Cranks

It's the best hardtail I've ever owned!

Re:

Polishing is coming along. I got a bit sidetracked though.

Fitting Judys and found this on the the steerer:

Then got really sidetracked. As with most of us, space is at a premium here and i have recently acquired a cheapie kids bike that is destined for a friends child.

It's surprisingly heavy but recabled, serviced and cleaned will be a better bike than the BMX currently in use.

Anyway, it occurred to me that I could free up some space quicker if I got that one done and out rather than continuing to polish the Pantera.

I'm having some decision making problems with the GT.

My original intention was to build a kind of ersatz Zaskar LE using the Pantera frame, Judy SLs and XTR 95* groupset. Now I'm wavering between XTR 95*, XT 739 and the STX which is original equipment and very pretty.

Does everyone else have these problems with decisions and attention span I wonder?

Sorry I can't make out the writing on the steerer.

At the end of the day the bike is for a child who won't take care of it as we would so I would stay with STX which as you say is pretty enough. Certainly you won't get too upset if the bike is laid down on the wrong side. It is there for her enjoyment after all

You have a fantastic range of cranks but if you want to do special, find some shorter arms ideally 155 - 165 mm

Regarding the forks, put the lightest on.

Re:

Sorry, rubbish iPhone pic. I think the writing says:

"Original equipment only"
"Warranty void if sold at retail."

Just means they were fitted to a production bike, I have 2 in the garage like that and I'm sure the warranty went a few years ago ;)
