Is a project ever finished?

I'm at the stage where I need/want no more (a very rash statement to make).

But this got me thinking, are bikes ever finished? Isn't there always an improvement you can make however slight? Is owning a bike is an iterative process with the iterations becoming progressively smaller as time goes on? Will the madness ever stop?

Even if a bike is 'perfect', a few weeks down the line, you have changed, your tastes have changed, something that was once thought unobtainable has miraculously fallen into your hands... hey presto, project needs 'realigning' :D

I believe there's a saying, isn't there? "A man who is tired of changing his bike is tired of life."

This is definately the case with my Yeti FRO. Since it's first proper rides in August last year I've continually made changes, albeit smaller and smaller ones. This weekend it'll get a period correct front wheel. In a few weeks a Ringle instead of Syncros seatpost but then what - nothing, all the boxes will be checked for "my" build, I only need a C-26 frame to finish it off :D
