Interesting Scorpion Ti custom frame

Mine isn't titanium but has similarities. So who built which - Donohue or Winter??

Do you know what made him call a bike either a Scorpion or a Donohue?

At the time he was known for custom built, made to measure frames but in the mid to late 90's nobody wanted this and certainly didn't want to pay.

He decided to try and compete by making additional brands, Scorpion was the Ti brand, Avanti was the internet mail order side. He also had a go with cougar but ultimately it was impossible to compete with the Chinese frames and big names. He eventually got tired of trying and moved on to other things.

Sad really.

As mine isn't ti and yet a Scorpion, do you think it may be an early ti proto? What were Donohue MTB frames of this period usually made of?

There was a nice MaxOR frame sold on eBay earlier this year, but that might have been a few years earlier.

If this was closer to me I'd be putting in a really strong bid, it looks a great bike and at the moment it's going for peanuts.
Fingers crossed one of the bike butchers don't get their grubby hands on it.
It would be a shame to see it stripped and flipped for profit
