INTERESTING CYCLING MEDAL........enfield cycles john bull

marin man

Old School Grand Master
Anybody know anything about this....

It came with some war time medals, and a few old coins.......

It commemorates a cycle ride to lapland on john bull tyres, this happened in 1951.

I think it was cycles and not motor cycles,I remember in our lock up years ago my grandfather had an old enfield bike with three speed :?

Funny that two should turn up.....cant be many of them about.....

i highly suspect

it was a pioneer venture by Wally Summers and crew on Royal Enfield Cycles fitted with John Bull Tyres
in 1951
from england to lapland and back

these were safe travel tokens as worn by the team

hope thsi helps

Ginger can read......maybe it is worthwhile you going to uni after all

I was more interested in the object of the excercise so to speak...........

In the days before people doing things for "charity" it must have been an advertising gimmick, but I wondered if it was done on one set of tyres....that would explain the point of the excercise

funny... i was reading about the lee enfield today, seems like another small arms factory that produced bikes

I've got one of the bikes they did it on. Not one of the actual bikes mind. They did it on a Royal Enfield Bullet 3's. I'll put up a couple of pics in a minute.
