I've decided that, for my next project, I'd like to try to build a replica of a bike which belonged to a MTB hero of mine, and which I used to drool over whenever I watched my 'Dirt' video.

I want to build an exact (or near as dammit) replica of JMC's Specialized Hardtail. I've searched for a spec but I can't find one anywhere. I've also searched for a good picture of the bike in question as I should be able to work out most of the components. Unfortunately, thanks to the fact that I'm in work (so can't look properly), I can't find anything :(

I know that the forks are Judy FSX, the bars are Azonic high-rise and the stem is Azonic too. I think the saddle was a Spesh one, rear mech was M900 and shifter was Gripshift X-Ray (which, to be honest, I'd replace with a rapidfire as I hate GS with a passion!).

Can anyone on here help me with a spec list of the bike and/or a few piccies please?

Thanks

Got a pic of the video cover:

So, cranks look to be M900s? There's the obligatory red DCD, and brakes (and levers) look to be Avids? Pedals are Odyssey Triple Traps. Tyres I'm guessing would be Spesh Team Control & Team Master....

What about the rims/hubs?

121sup cd's for the rims?

saddle was a ti railed grey leather spesh prolong iirc

levers are definitely avids with avid tri align cantis again iirc

I'll add the rims to my build list...

ive got some close up pics from bike '96 where they auctioned off his hardtail for chairty

il try find them and scan them in

crud - if you could, that would be great :)

benbonty - the JMC build is very much in my head at the moment, so I won't dib the DCD just yet ;), but keep an eye out on the wanted threads over the next couple of weeks because I might post up all of the parts I will need :)

No problems, great plan for a build by the way, I've always wanted to do this but I don't have the patience to wait for the right parts unfortunately!

Some kind person has actually split the Dirt video into 3 parts and put it on youtube, so you can study it :D

part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOG9cXERWhw
part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JPm8T-q ... re=related
part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lc0NoCQo ... re=related

I used to watch it so often when I was a teenager! Dave Hemming on his mahoosive Orange, trying his best to keep up with JMC and Warner through the fields and gateways... Good times :)
