Independent Fabrication Ti Deluxe

Re:

Ahh...but you haven't seen it in the flesh. Too many scratches and chips to the paint and the paint was faded. If I could have restored the paint finish I probably would have done and besides, whilst I do like partially painted to frames, this is going to look awesome naked with new decals. 2004 I believe.

Re:

It is an especially nice looking frame. Detailing + proportions are exactly how I would choose a ti frame. I really like how the top tube and down tube meet just before the headtube.

I saw Tim Flooks' Ti Deluxe a few years ago and I think it's one of the nicest frames I've ever seen...the craftsmanship is second to none. IF seem to be one of the few companies that paint their Ti frames, I liked the retro colourway on that but then bare also looks the business.

Looking forward to seeing the finished build :)

Agree...welding is far superior to the Jim Kish Ti frame I had, on a par with most Merlins although the shot peen finish on the IF is totally different.

Bit (very) skint at the moment so either it will be a very very long build or I sell it in favour of something cheaper. Not decided

Brilliant service indeed. How did you get that paint off? I also happen to have a Ti frame which is painted and I want to get rid of the paint as well.

Re:

In the end I used nitromors paint stripper which is no longer that strong so it was a case of roughing up the top coat and applying the paint stripper. Then wait.
The top coat came of fairly easily but the undercoat has been difficult.
It's just been a case of going over and going over again using a combination of wire wool, scotchbrite and small wire brushes around the tricky parts and leaving the paint stripper on hour or so between each rub down.
