So, I'm sitting here pondering just how it is that our receptionist got away with 42 days off sick last calendar year, especially with excuses like "I've mislayed my mother" (only to have the afore mentioned 'lost' parent ring up at lunch oblivious to here disappearance), all because someone had pointed out to me that if you thought about it, there wasn't a week went by that she wasn't off at least a day.
And it got me thinking, after I stopped laughing, that I reckon there wasn't a week went by last year that I wasn't embarking on one more bike related purchase/ solution/ re-build/ completion. I have looked at the numbers and have come up with one a week.
Not that bad. I know for one that there are worse addicts on this site. Many. And much worse. It has however struck me that I can't get closure on these bloody machines.
When I get them insured or re-insured every year (depending on their hiararchy in the family setup) I tell myself they are worth 'x' amount. But they're not are they? They're worth five times that because they keep getting re-built. Over and over again. Unnecessary transplants. Experimented on like poor lab creatures, getting their old organs flogged off to other evil medical practitioners all over the world ready to mutate their pride and joy in a similar (often) grotesque manner.
I need to get closure. Every purchase tells me 'this is it, this is finallly done'.
But it's not.
It never is is it?
Anyway, I've narrowed it down to one mission a week.
What are you up/ down to?
