IG chain or SRAM

Is it possible to run a SRAM chain on my 1997 M568 LX Crank, which is supposed to run an IG Chain?? I'm sure I read somewhere that it would run fine due to the shape of the links????? :? and is there any particular SRAM chain I should use, if this is the case??

yes, it will work fine.....i prefer sram chains due to the connecting pin....it allows you to remove and properly degrease much more simply than an ig......thay will all do the same job, the more you spend the shinier it will be....i prefer the more regular replacing of cheaper chains personally, but its your choice...... :D

IG was just another stupid Shimano marketing gimmick. Fit a SRAM chain and enjoy it lasting twice as long as the Shimano one.

FWIW - another point of view....

Gimmick or no - an IG chain gives better front shifting on my Parkpre with M950 than an HG chain did.

But you don't HAVE to use IG.

I recently got hold of a couple of Wipperman Connex 808's cheap from Chainreaction'.

Best quality looking chain I've seen for a long time by far.

I had some of these but the joining link made my chain skip on the rear when going through the mech. Swapped the connecting pin out for a sram one and all was well - quite strange. For me they didn't stand up too well on a daily commuter, but they were from the crc flood sale so maybe that had something to do with their longevity?
