ideas for the restoration of a vintage road bike

Hi ! few month ago i've decided to buy a vintage road bike .
I'm went in the used market of my town and I found a cheap peugeot bike .
Now , i want restore it .
The bike is this . I've no idea of construction materials :alluminum or steel?
I hope that community can help me and give it to me information and tips .
i would restore and repaint it and give it a modern aspect .
Any ideas ? tips?

Not sure exactly what you are asking?

If you are hoping to repaint the frame the first thing is to remove all the components from it. You could start with the gear/brake cables, but the rear brake cable looks to be routed internally through the top tube, so you might want to leave that in there until you've got the seat post and (eventually) the forks out, and figured out how you would get the cable back in there if you were to remove it.

After that there's about eight bolts to undo: One holding each brake to the frame, one holding each gear mech. to the frame, one holding each crank on the BB spindle, one holding the stem in the steerer tube, and one holding the seat post in the seat tube, (which looks to be out already). If you encounter any specific problem someone will help.

A magnet will distinguish between steel and aluminium.

I removed all components of bike. The magnet was attracted and now is attached it on the frame
There's this on the tube (bbt). what is?
