Just come back from an interview for what is quite possibly my ideal job, varied mix of CAD design, hands on, international travel, purchasing, help expanding the company and the best bit is that it's a 3mile commute by car and 2.6mile commute by bike, and i don't have to touch any main roads! :D

from my door
0.06mile residential road
0.1mile footpath to the canal.
1.9mile up the canal towpath,
0.24mile footpath,
0.3mile of residential road
turn onto industrial estate
arrive in work

2.6mile total

ah, commuting heaven
I hope I get this job!

:D :D :D

UPDATE June 2010
After initially going to the interviews in February and loosing out, they re-contacted me in June after the position became vacant and have been offered the job! Words of wisdom from Chris, first choice doesn't always work out!

My commute is from my front bedroom to my back bedroom/office. Sometimes I'll go downstairs for breakfast before I start work though, just to mix things up a bit.

Good luck with the job ER. :)

how did the interview go then?
fingers crossed.

my commute is a four hour drive to stansted, a 2 hour flight to billund and a two hour drive to grenaa.

Good luck, sounds ideal!

My commute;
6ish am - Alfie wakes up. Stagger into Alfie's room, get him out of bed, get back in my bed. Spend next 1hr with Alfie dozing, kicking my bladder, tossing and turning and then announcing he wants to get up.

7am - downstairs now, make a coffe and Alfies bottle, spend next half hour chasing him round the lounge whilst he plays and drinks his bottle.

7.30am - attempt to shave whilst Alfie throws the shampoo and shower gel bottles from side of bath into the bath.

7.40am - attempt to shower whilst Afie thinks its funny to stick his head under the shower and also push the cold shower curtain onto my body.

8am - both of us now go back upstairs and I get dressed. Alfie now dives into the wardrobe and pulls all Kirstens clothes off the lower hanging rail. Spend next 10mins restocking wifes wardrobe.

8.20am - hand Alfie over to Kirsten and relax.

8.25am - walk from house to drive, get into car.

8.35am - arrive at office.

good luck.

my commute. jupm on whatever bike is in the kitchen and looks to have 2 wheels attached. pedal about 900 revolutions. arrive. hopefully without having to wake up too much

Sounds very similar to my job, both in duties and in commute...except I am smack bang middle of London and traffic is something to keep in mind. Still, I enjoy it!

when I'm not on the school run with 3 kids, I ride steep downhill (12%) for about 1/2 a mile then flattish for another half - then park bike in its own office in work.
Going home the steep hill is a bitch so if I feel tired or have more time I take a longer traverse.
