IDEA: Retrobike Top Trumps........anyone?

Such a cool idea...rules in this game will be very interesting to figure out..such as would it be better to have an older 1990 Klein than a 1992 Klein etc...

Cooks rating on that Yo is "0" by the way, thats a Ringle/Grafton build ;)

LOL Jez, I was so excited at having something to do between 4-5pm that wasn't work and wasn't spending money I didn't have on ebay, that I clearly didn't look at the Yeddy properly.

Well, seems like we might have a goer here then. Thanks for the Nod John, I'll get to work. I am no designer though, just playing around at work, but will enlist our in house designer's help tomorrow and get somewhere.

Yeah, I was thinking world championships as one maybe and definately how many were produced, but that'll be hard to find out won't it?

Was thinking on the way home, numbers are hard to argue against, so weights and no's produced are the right way to go.

Was trying to figure out a ratio of weight to volume - kind of like power to weight on a car's stats.

Hmm, will have a think and have got some top trumps here to emulate tomorrow.

Cool 8)

I think its a great idea!

Just think of the appropriate classifications and lets just do it:

My suggestions for each classification:

Retroness - based on the build decision and component choices - i.e if it has newer style components on an old frame does it forfeit some points?

Anodising - how much coloured stuff is on there?

Weight - how nimble weight tastic it is...

Coolness - even if its all black and conventional it might kick absolute ass

Boutiqueness - If ituses ridiculously expensive exotica in the build - i.e rareity and expense...

Sexiness - How desirable is it?

Garage Queen-ness - could it be ridden or is it just a poofs bike.

I dunno - ideas!!! :D

Frame weight in grams, less being better (?)

Frame Material: steel, aluminium, titanium, carbon, carbon fibre (trimble anyone?!) each given a ranking number e.g. out of 10, steel 5 for being quite common, whereas titanium gets a 9 because of relative rarity or something like that anyway - you can argue about which material gets how many points...

How about colour of anodized parts? Top tube length? Cost? Ride quality?

LOL Jez, those catagories will guarantee you win as often as Joshua in wargames!

There must be some leftfield catagory that only allows you to win a round if you have one or two products. Aimed at that stem that there were only 3 made of or the tyres that lasted 1 hour! (that'll be s works team masters then - :-) ) - just to give the little guys a chance :-)
