This is what does it for me, just the feeling of enormous well-being (name the quote anyone?) I get from being a part of it and helping/being helped. It is not about the money, or the riding, or the shiney kit; it is all about whatever we all want it to be and everyone is happy with that and respects everyone else's POV.

Example, I do not feel in the least bit pressured to actually get my Ozone muddy. It is far too nice for me at this minute, but I don't feel that I will get judged for it. On other forums I know I would get an earful for an opinion that did not match someone else's.
