I am not getting on with my Marin Mount Vision, it has tried to kill me twice now and I think it is time it was kicked out of Reki Towers. I have a very nice skinny tubed steel SS Parkpre. I could take the drivetrain off the Marin and transfer it to the Parkpre. Sell the bits of the Marin I don't need. What do you think?

With the drivetrain off this (now has a silver outer chainring):

This is the result, and very pleased I am too :D Just need to find suitable front mech, M738/9 bottom pull 28.6 band

Edit: Just found a NOS LX one that will do lovely :D

is that my old frame? 8)

Yes, it is. Decided to put gears on it, the SS is fun but very limited to where it can be ridden without suffering too much. Will get some decals done when funds allow 8)

that was such a nice frame - couldn't believe how light it was  shame it was too small for me

how did it try to kill you ?

i had a generalised rockhopperdiscproexpert thing that was like that
never fell of a bike so much in my life
devil bike it was christened as anyone who rode it crashed it

sold it to my nephew ,about a week later a car ran over it and him
course he got his compy claim in and bought a honda civic with the payout

In September 2008 I had a big crash on it, flew over the bars and landed on my head (in front of Jango and on the same bit of trail that Neilll was busy breaking his ribs on behind me at the same time). Cracked a vertebrae in my neck and had back problems for a long time afterwards.

Last Sunday it bucked me over the bars and sent me cartwheeling down the Thetford singletrack.

I have never really got on with the bike, it is hard work and always feels like you are fighting it. I think the main problem is I am too heavy for the rear shock, it has an upgraded 600lb spring but I have to wind in so much preload to get the sag correct. The forks I have had since new and are getting a bit tired so will use their retirement to get them sorted out. It's a shame as I have spent time and money trying to get this bike right but I am more than pleased with the outcome of it's off-spring.

That looks pretty good 8)
I don't know why, but I always assumed you already have a steel, geared Parkpre :?
Knowing how well they ride, that'll be a fun bike :D
