Hi, I'm new to retro bike, joined earlier this week after finding site whilst fishing around internet re a Raleigh mirage bike.
I have one that I want to sell after al these years to upgrade to a more modern one to start cycling to work & shed a few pounds..

On this site I found a reader who wanted one & was impressed with mine, only problem being mines a 23" frame & he needed something smaller.
Having followed his suggestion to trawl the site for past adverts I came across your post & wondered if you managed to get hold of one or not & if not if you might be interested.
I haven't put it on ebay as yet or formally advertised it on here yet.
I've plenty of pics & info for anyone who might be interested.
Hope you dont mind me contacting you.

Regards

Angus

Wotcha- I'm a big fan of 501-framed Raleighs. I've got an early-model Mirage (chainstay-mounted U-brake), a slightly later Montage, and a later-still Suntour-equipped Moonrun. I've also got a Summit- K7 of course, not original 501. My Mirage has done upwards of 10,000 miles, a 400 mlle camping tour of Holland being perhaps it's (and my) finest achievement.. Lots of adventures on that one. Anyway, the Montage is available- same basic frame as the Mirage of course. Possible snag- it's frame and forks only- can include original stem and seatpost though. It has also had a repaint- green enamel. Don't know if it's any use, but get in touch if so. Can post, and will only charge a nominal tenner or so for it all. You will probably find a complete Mirage like your old one soon though- just letting you know I've got a starting point if you fancy big-boy's Meccano..
Nice to see someone else loves these bombproof old Brit bikes..

Oops, forgot to mention that the Montage is a 21" frame. My Mirage is a 23", Moonrun a 19" and Summit a 17"- think that's the set! :D

Hi, thanks for post re Raleigh mirage & offer of parts if needed but I'm actually looking to sell my mirage to get something newer, lighter etc for cycling to work.
If anyone out there knows of anyone who might be interested then please get in touch.
Mines a 23" frame, in purple, excellent condition, ( I think I also still have the original instruction booklet in the garage.. pics & greater detail can be supplied on request.

Regards

Angus
