How to care for old fashioned leather walking boots?

Careful with mink oil.. there have been cases where it has rotted stitching..

If it's smooth finished leather then I found dubbin to be about the best..

Used to get Cheery Blossom Natural Dubbin from Morrison supermarket for about 60p a tin (been a year or so since I bought any)...

Another vote for dubbin here. A branch of Blacks or Milletts should be able to oblige if you're having trouble getting hold of the stuff.

nicwax leather softener 1st then an appropriate proofer......if they are suede use only stuff made for suade and a suade brush or you'll have semi smooth boots very quicky !

.

Used to use Dubbing on my clogs(stop sniggering :D ).
Only use it if they are smooth leather though.
I used to work it in with my finger  resulted in a plyable waterproof boot

Tad, phone Rich or Dave at Peglers. 01903 883375. They'll definately know and have the best oil/ wax etc.

I was only over that way the other Saturday - looks like a really good "outdoor" shop, spread over at least 2 branches as I recall. Also provides an excuse to visit Arundel - nice little town.
