How old is my bike?

Hammertone

Retro Newbie
Hello all.

I have a nice old Ritchey mountain bike.
It has a red frame and Ritchey dropouts.
The only stickers still on it are:
- Ritchey on either side of the downtube
- Ritchey Logic Super Tubing Tange Prestige sticker

Serial #367

Do any of you wise folk know how old it is?
My guess is that it is a 1990 P-23.
The wheels and a couple other small things have been changed.
I'll have to find a picture....rummage, rummage, oh, later for that.

After my post above, I found this on a site called "The Ritchey Project"
at oldmountainbikesdotcom:

"Super Comps and early "P Series" frames appear to be numbered consecutively
with no information contained in the serial number.
The lower the number the earlier the build date."

""P" Series
The P-23 was introduced in 1990.
The "Team" designation was given to fillet-brazed frames.
In 1994 the frame was called the "Comp-23" as the
lighter P-22 and P-21 frames took the limelight off of the
slighter heavier P-23 frame.
In subsequant years the frame was called the
"Comp Shocker," "Crazy Pete," and finally the "Comp."

The P-22, P-21, and P-20 frames where made from
lighter tubeset than the P-23. "Team" and "WCS"
was added to the names of the fillet brazed models."

Mine is #367, so I guess it's @1990.

Are the forks original, if so it's 1994. If retrofitted later as an upgrade then its before 1994.

I don't know anything about the frame itself.

I have the original Ritchey forks - the Mag 21 was fitted later.
I also have the original Ritchey saddle, quite beat up - the current Ritchey saddle is newer as well.
