How not to organise a bike race...

I don't know how many of you have seen this, but it kind of defies belief! Support vehicles on the racing line during a descent...maybe that should be 'unsupport' vehicles

Lucky guy I say. At the speed he was travelling he was going to have an accident regardless of whether that Porsche was there or not
He would have gone into the trees, hit a spectator or a parked car...could have been much more tragic

Re:

That's true, but it's the general chaos that ensues after the crash which needs looking into, and the combination of team cars and motorcycles effectively blocking the entire road when it is clearly a fast corner that is catching a lot of riders out.

I think the motorcycle rider had good intentions because it looks like he turns across to form a shield to protect the crashed rider who was at risk of being hit by another rider. If that was the case, it did backfire for the motorcycle rider but many of those riders were misjudging their speed and road position so at some point someone else was going to come ploughing in.

The two guys that crashed heavily would never of made the corner, possible braking failure due to over heating or just plain misjudgement.

Glad the rider is OK, some piss poor cornering though. Some of those vehicle drivers need shooting.

Re:

Just noticed the white car with the yellow stripe that seems to witness the crash from behind the rider, then pass the crashed rider on the inside as he lies on the ground. The driver of that car definitely needs stringing up.

What are the UCI or whatever rules about passing riders in a support car? Is it allowed? Would it help to ban it? So, if one rider has problem he should just have to wait for his car.

Also, would it help to require all support vehicles to carry a red flag or something that they have to display if they see a crash or hear about it on their radio? Or would that just be open to misuse?
