How far do people travel......

depends on how much you really want it ;)

I've done 180 mile round trips to collect bikes before (on more than one occasion)

.......full days work, finishing at 7pm one Friday in Coventry....m6 up to Glasgow to collect my Yates, hoofed it in car and m6 home, arrived at 3.30 am...........that's my furthest!.....

+1 for how much you really want it. Personally, I haven't gone very far, I think 15 miles is the furthest. I have only bough a few things on here (for now...!) and had them delivered. If I had needed to collect, the cost of the items would have been my petrol money, so I wouldn't have got very far

Bought a bike about five or six years ago off German eBay that the chap wouldn't post. Collection involved:

Drive to Manchester airport
Plane from Manchester to Stuttgart
Train from Stuttgart to Baden-Baden
One hour drive from Baden-Baden to sleepy hillside town

I then had to buy a bike bag to take the bike back in the hold

Also have to factor in the 30 odd quid the bank took off me for doing a two day international money transfer (no, I didn't understand either).

All in all, it can safely be assumed I wasn't 'in it for the money'...

The bike was top dollar too but I soooo wanted it.

Of course, I then over the years have stripped it back to frame only and replaced everything.

It is the one bike I would never sell (even though I never ride it) because I simply have a ridiculous amount of time and money in it and I would probably cry.

And that ain't pretty...

250 mile round trip, and also crawley west sussex to bristol and back on train (get the right ticket and cost no more than normal postage for bike)

I think it would be worth travelling a long way for a frame or bike that was something rare or you had searched for for a while. Especially if you weren't sure if the seller would package it well enough.

I see my time as free so the only cost is the diesel

For quick turn around buy and re-sell normally set my sights and no more than a 50 mile round trip

For that one opportunity to never be missed for re-sell probably a 100 mile round trip

for personal consumption on something a bit special..as long as I can drive there and be back the same day then I have no limit
