Hi,
I've had this bike for many years, the frame was originally bought by my brother from his good freind who was a semi pro rider because it got damaged (see below).

I think its a scepter comp or a pro 825, not sure....anyone got any pics of one?

It has had a very hard life since then. My other brother turned it into a single speed street/stunt bike, then it sat idle for a few more years and then it was converted back by me 4 years ago.

There is virtually a whole seat tube snapped inside it and corroded in place, the current tube only goes in about an inch

I've been wanting to restore this frame for many years but i'm stuck on a few points.
*Can you get hold of all the original decals? I havn't even seen the main Parkpre decal for sale nevermind the rest! And i don't have all of them to get them made up myself.
*How can I restore the original Ti plate finish once i strip it off?
*I guess the dent on the top tube is there to stay...
*How on earth do i get the old seat tube out, i've had a few attempts at it in the past, but it's well corroded in place!
*There is spots of corrosion all over the frame, which i have dabbed with that white stuff that stops it and turns it black. Its look a bit nasty

What do you guys think?

Send a PM to REKIBorter on here. He sleeps, drinks and breathes Parkpre's.

I'm sure he'll sniff this thread out soon

To get the post out, get a packet of choccy Hobnobs, £20 out of the bank, a BIG smile and take them all round to your nearest frame builder.

 that'll do it! So it is the pro 825 as i hoped, that makes it the Tange Ultimate superlight :)

It's a lovely frame to ride, i've never ridden anything like it!

I'm after a spare frame at the moment so i can strip this one, cuz it's my only bike (apart from the mrs's). I'de want a quality steelie hardtail. Spotted a scepter comp for sale in Germany, but i don't think he'll post. Always liked the old Kona's, especially the explosif, but they go for too much :(

As above, REKIBorter is your man.....I think he can sort decals.

see hear. http://www.parkpre.com/

I'd spotted REKIBorter website before when i've been trying to identify my frame, i'll get it touch with him, cheers.

Better late than never ...

Looks like a 95 or 96 Pro 825 to me, top class steel frame. The external corrosion does looks bloody awful. I think the only answer would be a respray, the 97 and 98 bikes were painted rather than Ti coated, maybe when you take it along to your local friendly frame builder to get the seat post sorted enquire how much it would be. Personaly I would like to build the bike up as original as possible but having tried to source parts I know how difficult this can be. So, build it up however you see fit. Decals can be done by Gil_m on this site, he has done a couple of Parkpre ones already for site members.

Do you have the rear brake canti cable noodle still? The short tube that attached to the left side of the seat tube that guided the rear brake cable downwards towards the cantis. If so I know a forum member who is in desperate need of one.

The corrosion is not as bad as it looks, its just surface. The stuff i put on it makes it look worse, but it stops it dead. A light sand takes it all off.

Do you know what they used for the Ti coating, was it just a coloured laquer? What colours were the 97/98 bikes (if i decide to paint...) any pics :) ?

I don't think i'll be able to manage totally original, but certainly i'll keep it in the same period!

Havn't seen the noodle for over 8 years lol, but it may be burried somewhere in all my bits.... when i get my garage built and sort my crap out i'll keep a look out for it!

The Ti coating was a very thin plated layer with laquer over the top, it pin holes and rusts very easily. 1998 Pro 825 had a very nice paint job but I have never come across anyone that claims to own one of this type, it was the year the company went belly up which may explain why.

That down tube is much fatter than mine :?

Have you tried an acid dip? Similar to what they do to cars.
