Homework. Should i be alarmed?

My son is 14 and, i'm not biased honest, a very intellegent young man.
He excells in all subjects, more so if he has some interest in what he's working towards.
So imagine my surprise when he informs me that his Geography homework is to build a paperamche/or similar scale model of a bloody volano!!!!!!!
I can understand this sort of thing in there younger years but he's about 2 years away from his GSCE's and all they can think to give him to assist in his education is model making :shock: :roll:

Should i be alarmed???

So, lemmie get this right...

The teacher set an activity that's fun enough to get even the thick kids' attention, still relevant to the subject, and even happens out of school so it saves lesson time for other stuff.

What is the rest of his homework like? if it is for the large part reliant on a box of crayola then perhaps it is something you could bring up with the teacher and or school. If however it is usually studying applied thermodynamic theory to the active geology of the earth, then I'd suggest a one off bit of fun would probably do no harm what so ever and god forbid might actually be fun and prove more inspirational in the long run.
