You know those ideas, the ones you have while daydreaming they may turn out to be nonsense, or a million pound dream.

Here's a couple of mine, if by any slim chance a machinist engineer thinks they're a goer then we'll go 50/50.

Do you have multiple bikes? Do you have 1 bum? Would you like a comfy expensive saddle that's molded to your 1 bum?

1. saw the seat clamp off your seatpost (or purchase a seatpost with my design prefab).
2. Clamp the seatpost part of my design to your seatpost while in the bike.
3. Level the clamp while the bike is on a flat surface and tighten the bolt.
4. Clamp the top half of my design to your chosen, comfy , expensive saddle.
5. Turn saddle through 90 deg. push and twist top part of clamp to bottom part of clamp until spring loaded click engages.
6. Press and hold button under saddle to disengage locking mech.
7. Pull up and twist saddle through 90 deg. to disengage.
8. Purchase lower clamp part for all your other bikes.
8a. Saddle can be unclamped and removed when bike is left unattended.

Comes in 90's anodised colours. Light materials. Theft deterrent.

Do you have disc brakes, unused brake bosses? Use them to lock up your bike.

1. Attach lock bolts into brake bosses.
2. Push lock end A onto bolt A.
3. Twist bar as you rotate wheel with bar through spokes.
4. Bar will twist down and locate over bolt B.
5. Insert key into bar end B and lock onto boss B.

For those who use V or Canti (honest, really, do you still ;) brakes, longer through bolts are available, as well as a brake booster lock, retro style.

The brake booster replaces the lock bar and sits as a booster when not in use, flip 180 deg. through the spokes to lock the bike.

"Why not remove your seat using out other product for greater theft deterrent?)

My great idea was a pedal that was basically constructed of all the tools you'd need out on the trail...

Never got as far as drawing (as I can't draw!), but the general idea was a cage that housed various allen keys, tyre levers, screwdriver, 10mm spanner etc...

The idea being you saved weight from carrying separate tools...

I like the seatpost idea. I had been wondering something similar myself recently.
I think the problem would be making it strong enough, light enough and cheap enough.
Strong, light, cheap. Pick any two.
Otherwise, it doesn't take too long to whip off a saddle. :?

i'm sure i saw something like that for sale a couple of years back, it looked really cheap and nasty though.

The seat post design used to be around bitd as mentioned above and the lock is pretty much the same design as quite a few that have been in use for a long time, i think i have a ladies bianchi from the 1950s that has something very similar.

Still props on the drawings, they are really nice!

Pedals are amongst the worst places to add weight.

It was going to be the lightest pedal on the market made out of space age materials with a cost to match! :D

I have no ideas at all.

Although, if someone could invent a plastic magnet (magnet for plastic) I'll invest every last penny I have!
