Tried to get some picture, not as easy as I thought! I have a comparison of the original decals against the large panel ones. They don't look too bad, but are they truly Kingfisher blue? they do match the originals though. As the paint was not too bad I tried to preserve it and touched it up with Porsche Signal Orange. I did put grey undercoat under the decals. The main problem is handling such large decals, need plenty of soapy water to keep them moving while getting the creases out. I was left with a 1/8" grey gap under both decals, that would be orange in your case. Fortunately I had some blue spray paint to fill it in with and after the clear coat it looks ok, not many people look under the tubes anyway. That said if I had to do it again I would paint the panels.

Thanks for that. Iv got the decals now so am going to see how they look, fit first. Did you put soapy water on the frame before putting the stickers on? Did the stick ok after it had dried, I was considering this

You should get instruction with them as I remember, you need to follow them exactly, give Lloyd's a call if in doubt. If they say use soapy water then use plenty of it on both frame and decal. Some don't and some use meths in the mixture. I have used all sorts of late, but I think due to the size these needed something to keep them moving while fitting them. Mine dried fine and stuck well, you will have to apply a lacquer anyway after fitting

As I remember it was obvious once I got them that there would be a gap on both so I assume that was intended. It could well be that they also assume you would be fitting them to a blue back ground which begs the question why not use the letter only decals. You could add a stripe of blue before fitting.

Hi, a friend gave me his late 70s Holdsworth Mistral frame and most original components after it had hung in his garage for *years* (I've known him for nearly 30 years and I'm pretty sure it was waiting for him to rebuild it when I first knew him!). The frame number is 006582. Am I inferring correctly from the frame numbers spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17uOyuOCv-S4UXrZRdWEqMiW6ClONQ4R6/edit#gid=950866031) that this would be a 1977 frame?

I've only taken a pic of the frame number so far. I'll take some more and post them soon. What was this colour called? The paint is in pretty good condition but there are chips. I'm not confident about being able to match the colour and touch them up well enough, so it may need a repaint.

yes that would seem to be a 1977 build. Difficult to know what colour that is as the Cats. do not specify a colour, as you could have any one. the picture in the 78 Cat. looks similar. I understand Mario Vaz is still painting frames and may be able to advise if this is a std Holdsworth colour.

Many thanks! The pic makes the colour seem a little turquoisey than it is. It's a metallic green. I'll check out Mario Vaz.

Hello, I've just been given a Holdsworth by a friend who sadly is in ill health. I'm looking to restore the bike which is in poor, well used condition and has been repainted.
The frame number is 031971, which from this very helpful thread, I believe is 1981.
It has campagnolo rear dropouts and I have attatched pictures. Any idea what model it is as I'm looking to repaint and apply correct transfers. Kind regards

I think that's got to be a range-topping 'Professional'. With those dropouts I don't think it can be anything else. Looks like a Campag. chainset and brake levers too. Nice gift, if you can sort it out..
