Re:
Midlife, the durability of the Cinelli alloy stem bolt is an unknown to me, all I know is the stem is fitted using the steel bolt, then removed and replaced with the alloy bolt.
Whoops forgot the brakes, nothing special as stopping was never the priority of the tester, so the obligatory Weimann 500 have been fitted, these are much lighter (levers 154g and callipers 242g) than the Suntour Superbe set I had thought of fitting and they would have been an extra 152g.
The Christophe Alloy toe clips (23g) arrived today, they are indeed lighter than the Ale alloy clips (30g), so I have fitted them.
Here is the finished result, not as pretty as some of my other builds, but it has been made for a purpose.
The object was to build a sub 18 lbs bike and with the use of a light chain I have managed to get under 8kgs. The curious may have been adding up the weight and I am pleased to have a bike that weighs in at 7933g or 17.48lbs. Here is the list of actual weights.

If I take the pedals off, the weight falls to 7.62kg, no bad for an old steel bike from the 1970’s.
