Hmmmm. Shiny!

Teggers

Inspired by abr303's awesome job polishing his Orange frame here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=411785&p=3034358#p3034358 I decided to give polishing a go on my 28 year old Shimano cranks. Being stupid, I didn't take a before pic. They were flat grey, scratched and generally looked like a 28 year old pair of cranks.

Started with 2000grit reducing in 500grit intervals to 3000 then machine polished them with a drill attachment (detail bits with a dremel) and a block of metal polish soap. I think they came out ok.

Heartened by this I next attacked my Pace forks ally bits. These were a bit more corroded and i did t want to disassemble them having little idea how they might fit back together. This was confirmed when I removed the little switch on the right hand fork top and the dust seal crumbled in my fingers. Still. Perseverance paid off and they now have shiny bits!

Thus was my first attempt at polishing to this extent so I thought I'd share the results.
