His bikes

About ten years ago, I found a "nice bike" for mrs non-fixie. Reynolds 531 sports frame, from a brand that is well-respected locally.

As bought:

As I built it up for a vacation in 2016:

After that trip my attention shifted to other bikes and it got put away in a dark corner of the attic. I recently rediscovered it and since it is such a nice frame I thought I'd rebuild it to mrs non-fixie's current taste.

The result:

Evolving tastes, absolutely. The toe clips may prove to be too much of a stretch, though. We'll see. At least I was allowed to put them on for her to try. She came around to liking down tube shifters, so who knows?

loverly construzione...como normale

what be the round things of this incarnation? and who let those CPSC compliant skewers on there?!?! [ ]

podiatric pedestals appear the may issue from Shima Mika San

suggestion: mrs. non-fixie might find the villes more tolerable if you were to affix kickup tabs

Thank you. I believe the cycle to be from about 1980, so the skewers should safely pass the scrutineers.

The MKS pedals were a nice swap meet buy. Even nicer when I found out later they are actually the Sylvan Touring Next model:

They came with these half cages and flip tabs, which I have now removed. Their time may come again.
