please forgive my lack of knowledge as this is all new to me
This bike was found hanging up in a shed of a property recently purchased by a member of my family.
Originally it was destined for the very large skip on the front drive but as i like a challenge i took it away to see what lay beneath the cobwebs.
After removing a few spiders and a bit of research i now understand it is a Hercules Commuter sturmey archer 3 speed.
I believe the company was taken over by Raleigh eventually.
It has a sturmey archer 3 speed AW gear hub and is dated 11-84 which i assume means the bike must date from around that time.
Im also assuming that everything on the bike is original, the tyres are Raleigh Record 37-590 (26x1 3/
sorry no idea what that means
The wheels have polished up quite well although there are some obvious signs of pitting when you get close up
Mudgaurds, parcel rack and handlebars have all come up well but again there are signs of age on them.
The rear reflector is missing along with the pump and im unsure if this model had a chaingaurd or not,
I have taken it for a small ride, my first time on a bike in years, brakes work fine and gears all seem to be working as they should.

Whilst i have enjoyed putting some life back into this bike and grown to like it more each day it will only take up valuable space in the garage so even before the good lady says anything i have to move it on.
I consider the condition of bike to be pretty good and am looking for around £100
