Help with headset bearings

no you don't

you actually want 3/16" normally 22 per race, but as you're not using the cages I assume then buy a few more. I cannot remember how many it takes properly without the race (basically pack them in and take out 1 if they all fit or 2 if one is a partial fit iirc.)

best quality stainless, would normally be grade 25 for shimano.

(I'm guessing you read bikepro ?)

Yeah read bikepro, Is it bad or good?
Best guality I found on simplybearings website is 10 Chrome steel (100 for stainless 420 and 316)
Ball diameter measured in bearings included is 4.9mm 22 balls, but cages are too small. It is odd,but It is so... All is NOS, but bearings are smaller  without original pack in gease.

Also please what does "iirc" means?
Thank You!

iirc is an old internet abbreviation of If I Remember Correctly unfortunately it's become habit to use it

I would guess somebodies just bunged some bearings in that looked about right

SJS Cycles did 3/16" 'Shimano' 25 grade stainless last time I looked.
Doubt you'll find the correct cage type unless anyone else knows of one that will fit ?

Nothing wrong with bikepro at all, just not always correct (rarely).

The HPM900/901/902 diagram an dinfo is in the gallery and archive by the way. just run down manufacturers->shimano-> ...

Great info in gallery diagram, although without You pointing it I wasn't able to find it. And even then I am not able to read that small text, so I had to ask You anyway.

I will use old method (run without cages) It will be better that way in the end. :)

I try to find bearings in SJS, Thank You again it was great help with mine struggle! :)
