Dear all - Can anyone please help me to identify and/or date this frame.......
It has no manufacturer badge/decals - but two rivets on the headstock where a badge has clearly been present in the past.
Forgive my limited technical knowledge - but I believe it is what is known as a lugless frame?
The quality of the engineering is just superb, and it is as light as a feather!
The bottom bracket bears the numbers "8133" (albeit somewhat indistinct) and "31437" (much clearer). The steering tube has "8133 X" and "31437".
I believe that this frame might be quite old - possibly a Claud Butler?
I would love to restore it, but would like to try to identify it first so any restoration can be as sympathetic to the original as possible.
Any help would be gratefully received......
Ian.
