Has anyone had problems fitting with Suntour indexed gear levers onto the standard brazed on gearlever boss?
The problem I’m having is that the part of the gear lever that fits (slips over) the two flats on the boss seem to be to small or that the boss is too big!
I have tried the part on some brand new bosses that have never been used & it doesn’t fit on those either. Its like it's made for a different size boss.
The only way I can see to fit it, is to file the boss down on both sides of the flat & the curved ends as well.
I originally thought it was because it had been Chromed (the frame is an ESA Colnago) but being as it doesn't fit to a new unused boss either it can't be that.
Did Suntour make different Down Tube Levers for different sized bosses? because I always thought that the gear lever bosses were all a standard size?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
I have fitted these lever's before to Buckler Colnago frames OK once the paint had been removed from the boss.
