HELP! steel pedal thread stuck in aluminium crank

Don't bother with hot water, and all that nonsense...

Put on your 15mm spanner, then get a handy length of exhaust pipe (all good garages should have one laying around for these sorts of emergencies!), put that on the spanner and it will move.

Leverage and forces my friend, leverages and forces!

You could always remove the pedal body and put the pedal spindle in a vice (if it has flat sides) and use the crank as better leverage

If it's stuck the very easiest way to remove it has already been said. Get a wrench / spanner on there and use a long length of pipe over top of it for massive leverage. Go slowly though because it WILL work and too much force will cause you to loose your footing and mush your face into the chainrings. If you do this you must post pics.

Try this before you heat it and ruin any finish on anything.

(Anxiously awaiting pics of a mashed face)

doh - this problem has addled my brain. I think I've been trying both directions. I will have to strip the pedal and use the paint stripping heat gun on the pedal spindle.

:?

dont do the above mate because if you heat the spindle up it will just expand in the crank arm if any thing you whant to heat the end of the crank arm not the pedal spindle.hope this makes sense and like others have said your best bet is to get some sort of scaffolding tube(etc)for leverage and maybe soak a bit of 3in1 oil in there also.if its the side with chainrings on it definately is anti clockwise.send it to me i will get it out for ya :D

good luck

oh!and depending on age etc it might have a allen hole in end of the pedal,if so stick one in there also to gaine more leverage :D
