Hi from a newbie, been an regular visitor for a while now and has given me hours of fun!

I've just got my Orange P7 back after a long 'lend' to a mate and am thinking of selling it., but don't know whether it's best to break it into bits
or sell it as a whole?

It's an 17" Orange P7 bought new by myself in 1994. Nickel finish with purple logos, LX groupset and Pace RC35's fitted at time of purchase. Everythings still original on it apart from saddle and tyres.

Only bad points (other than general wear and tear) after a quick inspection are a crack in the rear rim and the elastomers are shot in the RC35's.

Any recomendations?

Split it. You will get more for individual parts than a complete bike. The frame and forks alone will probably go fairly quickly.

Thats my two pence worth 8)

Welcome, by the way!

Pity the frame is not a 19", I'd be interested for sure.

As said already, if you split it you'll see a lot more financial return.

Some pix would be nice.

yup, breaking it will get you more poundage..as long as you look at what's sold and select the right price, some can't be arsed to strip so sell as a complete bike and get some pennies less

if your wondering how much it's worth ..make a few more posts then you will be able to post pics and post it in this part the mtb chat forum but the "how much is my xyz worth" thread

Sell it complete.

Yes breaking it you'll get more if you sell all the bits but chances are you'll end up with bits that just don't sell and remove any benefit from splitting. Then added to that there's no risk of damaging or breaking anything whilst stripping it.

The other thing to be aware of as well is sometimes people get carried away with the brand that they overlook the kit

Many bikes even good retro's volumes shot up when they made them cheaper, they normally did this by fitting entry/lower end spec kit...shifters, brakes, wheels etc

eBay and here is a good place to look at completed sales to see what they actually sold for

Saying that the last few months on eBay it seems the prices are going silly

Many thanks guys. Seems like advice either way, to be honest I'm not trying maximise any return but would just like to see it go to a good home rather than languishing in the back of my garage.

I'm of on holiday next week, once back I'll give it a proper once over and probably list it on ebay with some decent photos. I'll let you know when it goes on.

Another question....I'm right in thinking that you can still get replacement elastomers from Pace for the RC35's?

Cheers.

I'd normally say break it but complete p7's seem to be going for strong money atm. The kit on it will sell on but won't make a fortune and you could be left with some gear that doesn't sell. The fact the rear wheel is shot takes a fair wedge out of you split money.

Elastomers can be bought from justbackdated on here or direct from Pace. :D

If you can be bothered, split it. If not sell it whole.

If this turns into a sales thread with people trying to dibs bits I'll have to lock it.
