Help on setting up 'U' Brakes..

pretty much, all deore II but has DX sti & dx pedals, got the thumbies and monster sized pedals in reserve :)
 
It's important to keep tension in the cable system when the brake is off or the straddle will fall off. Don't make the straddle too short or you'll never be able to Q/R the brake.

Those are my two top tips!
 
and important to reinforce retrobikeguys tip about doing the bolts up when the brake is open. Unlike a cantilever, where you pinch the assembly up, will affect the point at which the spring tension is taken up. You can effectively do away with the grubscrew adjustment by carfully nipping the brake up where you want it. And If I remember rightly, using an allen key in the spring seats, you can wind them an extra 90 degrees for some extra tension.
