We've had this bike donated to our cycle workshop, and it looks a class act compared to most of the stuff we get in. Can anyone help identify the model and approx. year please. It's quite a small frame 18.5" c-c

Based on the chainset advice given on this forum I think it might be 59-62.

The numbers on the BB & Steerer are 5112 & 5650 plus the steerer has 1409 on it. Does this help identifying it?

The workshop manager has dismantled the wheels as the rims were in poor condition and is going to build the hubs up with new alloy rims.

He asked me to find out if there would be any interest in the bike minus the wheels ( would include Campag Record rear derailleur,Campag front derailleur & Campag shifters & headset)

here's a pic, and links to other pics can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/87847725@N ... 057622725/

Hi, the early Nervex Professional Lugs date it as pre 1956, the serial number on the bottom bracket will give the exact date, I suspect 1952 / 3, can you find out what it is. Thanks Terry

Hi, there will be a long nervex serial number with the BB angles in, and there should be two sets of three CB numbers. Thanks Terry

No problems about you asking, but I'm afraid it's not up to me. It's up to the workshop manager to decide, and I think he wants to do a renovation based around the original parts. I'll check with him anyway and let you know.

Hi, my guess is December 1951 (5112), after 1950 the year made up the first two digits, then the month. So looking in the catalogue for 1952, your lug pattern is showing as '5) CB's Worlds Championship Sprint Lug' which means they may not be Nervex Professional just very good copies, check out http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/components/nervex.html and see what you think. I hope this helps, clean the bike up, redo the cables and that will be a very tidy vintage bike. Thanks Terry
