Sorry not retro but i think my rear cassette is shagged
It's a 9 speed xt, and the bottom 4 cogs move like they have come dis- engaged.
Now, does this mean a new cassette :?: Or can it be simply tightened up :?:
Cheers......

They don't spin, just move about 2-4 mm each way. Come to think of it i have heard a weird noise coming from down there for a few weeks now

Probably a loose lock ring. The last couple of spockets are not connected to the rest so will wobble about if the lock ring is not tight.

Cassettes do come loose from time to time. Tighten up the lock ring to see if it solves the issue. I'm guessing it will, unless one of the fixed sprockets has broken off the cluster. It depends how long its been running loose.
