HELP Early & later Record Chainset question

Is there anyway to know what length BB axel 112mm or 144mm goes with the early or later record chainsets from the mid 70s to the mid 80s just by looking at the Chainset & without fitting it to the bike.
Thank you in advance as I'm 100% sure someone on here will have a very simple answer to this.

The date code is on the crank arm, anything after 1978 should have 114mm axle for a 68 mm shell as it matches the wider front mech.
