Retro Newbie
Hi New to this forum I'm seeking help with a bike I bought last year, it's a Raleigh Sprite goingby the frame number it's a 1961 build but thats where the info stops . The bike is a 5 speed rear cassette with a single drive ring, it has drop handlebars single gear lever mounted on frame. The saddle is Lycett leather . on the seat downtube is a picture of a cyclist racing. I cannot find any referance to this bike at all, the history I did get was that the bike was used in France for many years then brought back to England when the family moved back here. Any help would be appreciated as I am considering repainting it but if it is a special of some description I will leave as is ? Thanks guys

I think you have to post 5 or so posts first.. or is it ten.. cant remember. if you upload them to free site photobucket.com you can shove the url, the website link to the pics on here.

I can't help with the name, but it looks to be certainly c1960s - not sure about the spiders web chain wheel looks later (1970s) I could be wrong though!! - Im liking this old thing already. Keep the pictures coming!

Thats a proper nice bike that is! Cannot help either but will try and search the net for anything I can find out about it.
I want to know who the bloke is on the seat tube! Lots of interesting stuff to find out about tht bike. As said.. Keep the pic coming! As someone said to me, check the gears, hubs and stems for dates as it can all help point to the right year or build up a picture of the history of it.
Brilliant find! You must be very pleased.. I know I would be!

Very pleased with it especially for what I paid for it ? I've replaced the tyres cleaned her up a bit don't want to spoil it by repainting, I've tried searching for the rider on the seat tube but to no avail. Just need to sort a chain and re-wrap the bars then wait for a nice day for the maiden voyage.
