Helmet cameras

I bought a Sony Handycam with image stabilization for around $250. Then I bought a helmet with a solid shell (no holes). Next I went to Joe Breeze's house and he helped me make a stainless steel mount over the left earhole on the helmet ( by doing the mount by the earhole you get less bobbing motion in your pictures). The result is a semi heavy setup but the pictures come out great! Check out my REPACK video on Youtube with JB wearing the helmet cam! Go to Youtube and type in "repack joe breeze".

I've already seen that footage. It's very good actually! Is the handycam solid state or does it write to tape?

My stuff on YouTube, Vimeo
Both of those channels are using my older much heavier archos based system. You couldn't actually see the screen so if the angle was wrong then the video was crap. See the Dalbeattie Slab on Youtube for proof. I still put it up there just to prove i rode it
I've had a quick fiddle with some of the Peaks footage from last year using a much smaller mini dvr - Clicky for ebay. I'm in the process of uploading to flickr, vimeo and youtube so you can compare. Will repost when all done

I have the GoPro Motorsports HERO Wide kit (the rectangular mounts are curved to stick on helmets). Now that they've released the HD version, the regular ones can be had for $150 or less at most moto shops.

Here's a link to one of my other retro hobbies. Sky is overcast, so it's a bit dark. Speeds hit 170ish kmh and there's very little choppiness.

We're sponsored by GoPro (Hero HD) this year so will report back on the quality, although having already seen youTube vids of others using the same systems it looks awesome.
