hello from new member - chaser

Hi chrisv40,

I am sure that your bike is a higher spec fram than the Terratrax if it is a '96 model.

I remember that the model above mine [not sure of the name right now] had that type of 'top tube though seat tube' style frame.

It may have been 'powertrax' and it came in light purple with STX RC .

Whatever the outcome, you have the higher spec frame than the one I have :-)

hi chaser just to let you know i live about three mile from you in cheslyn hay so welcome from us all,
just watch your bank accout this place seems to empty them quite quick

Yes, those old Saracens were really great rides and looked great too - it's pity they lost their way like most of british manufacturing eh? Are you planning new decals?

.....Thanks for the welcome Monster... I know what you mean about the bank account. I started thinking I would build a 'scrapheap challenge' bike but got the bug and now want to restore the old Dyna-Tech to its former glory.

It has a bit of a story.... the frame was previously owned by an ex Raleigh employee - I thought it was a respray at first because it is fully painted in one colour [perlescent blue/green] and the decals were not like the regular Dynas. It's not, apparently the frame used to be on the wall in the office and was given to the guy I bought it from when SPD closed. It was an in house custom paint job. He even gave me the names of a couple of Raleigh employees who are still there to vouch for it! I have just arranged to have some new graphics made which will be replicas of the correct Dyna-Tech ones. I also need a 'Heron' head tube badge.

The US and Germany seem to be well stocked with NOS, partcularly XT bits but they are sooo expensive!

Can't wait to see it finished and take it for a spin.

Dunno about about new decals i think it looks nice without them, what do you think? Wouldnt know where to get any if i did decide to though.

I've always been a bit of a decal fan myself... it kinda gives a bike a history.. it's heritage etc... It is personal choice though, some like the really 'clean' look.

I went to my local signwriter/graphics company - if you can show them a pic of what you want, they can copy/reproduce it! It helped that the guy was a bike nut though :)

Sarecen decals would be really easy to do because they are individual letters with no complicated colours added.

The other option is is to contact saracen.. they may stil have old stock decals.

Hope this helps...

Chaser.

Hmm, Maybe don't think Saracen will help though tried them before for a 26.2mm seatpost and they aren't interested in anything old now just the new crap they churn out shame they used to be a great bike maker. Get some pics posted Chaser when you can.
