Hei Hei or King Kahuna? Who prefers what?

i'll measure the frame up this eve....

The spiral is Jez's fault - he applied it (as he owned the frame before me )

:)

What puzzles me is that the angles look 'Kona' on the shorter seat-tube extension frames. So, this means that the actual C2T on a supposedly 18" frame would be less.

I can't believe (but at the same time wouldn't neccaserily be suprised) that Kona would sell Hei Hei's with differant frame angles. So this begs the question; were the tubes cut down after manufacture, perhaps as some form of repair?

I'm assuming that the c-t seat tube is standard and the top tube is higher, but I must admit I can't prove it. The 95 and 96 catalogues show short extensions and Drapoon's is the only actual 93-96 Hei Hei I've seen with the standard Kona shape, so the short extension must have been part of the design, but I agree it's puzzling.

Hei Hei for me, here is a sneak peek of my 95 (with short seat tube extension). Nearly finished and soon to be featured in Readers Bikes, just need a length of XTR grey brake cable outer as the piece I have is too short to reach the rear mounted v-brakes.

Not sure why certain years have this shorter extension?

Yes you can but you have to buy the whole cable kit, hoping to avoid but may have to bite the bullet!

Looking at Mousemat's bike, it's clearly a 19 as it has a 13cm head tube, but the top tube is more horizontal than your size 20, and the extended line of it goes above the rear tire. That seems to me to suggest that the c-t of a 19 is still 19, but the top tube intersects it higher up.

Yup, that isn't so obvious on smaller sizes. I'm bemused by this though, a Kona is a Kona 'cos of the geometry :?

If you can't get some from your lbs, I can send some. Not sure of the cost over here, but it can't be that much, and postage shouldn't be much either. Might be possible as a last resort.
