Heart Rate monitors

yeah seen the lidl one, and got me thinking, i did a search on ebay, and similar ones are cheaper

I always would have recommended Polar. I have had on for years and it was first class. However, having to send it back to Polar for a battery change is I feel like being held to ransom.

Has anyone spotted the Garmin thingy on the Wiggle advert being shown during Tour breaks on ITV4? What is it? Being Garmin I'm sure it will have gps, but what other goodies are on these gizmos now?

I'm 40 soon and want to treat myself.

Polar are good (many models at many prices more beer tokens = more functions)

Cheap watch type ones will be pretty poor - just giving you your heart rate basically (and being a bit vauge at that).

Good HRM's will have a separate sensor/sender unit i.e the chest strap. this will give a far more accurate measurement than a wrist mounted one as it's next to the heart instead of 2 and a half feet away at the end of a limb!

A HRM is also pretty pointless unless you know how to use it and.. dare i say train with it! (resting heart rates, max hart rates working @ 90% max heart rate for X minutes etc) all depends on how much use you wnat to make of it and how far you want to take it really.

yep, for a tenner, it's pretty good.

as long as you know what you're watching for it's fine. no alarms for zones or anything fancy like that
