If you have the pennies to get one then give it a go and report back, doubt it would look gold for very long once there is oil on there. I know my silver one's never do.

Probably for dry weather with a light oil sort of cassette. Orfor racing once and throw away

Gold 9spd 11-32 is 175g (claimed ?) from a quick search. I assume they are coated like the Middleburn Hardcoats... but I know my hardcoats had ripped right through that on the sides after a few shifts

Nobody make Steel or Ti in a Ti:Nitride or similar coating like the KMC chains ?

This chap seems to have some other Alu one's on the site and there is an ebay link

EDIT apparently that 175g I gave is for the Titanium Gold version (so that answers a question above)

Recon do a titanium cassette in ti nitride but it is as you say 175 gm's my dura ace is all titanium and weighs about 125 gm's but the low gears are lacking a bit,not that it makes to much difference in norfolk  I will have a think and If I buy one will report back on this thread,Thanks for the sensible disscussion,it makes a change :D

Goldtec used to - this is the full titanium, ti-nitride coated 12-28 8spd cassette that I run about on.

Can't recall what it weighs, but it's not much! Durability however is pants. It's probably done a few hundred miles, and if it wasn't irreplaceable I'd have replaced it by now.... besides, it's a nice colour. FWIW I had an alloy cassette on a road bike a while ago, shifting was rubbish and it lasted a few hundred miles too, I swapped it for a nice durable campag steel and ti one.

i have ridden an alloy casstte before and ripped 7 teeth off in one hard sprint ....never went back....they break very easily and wear out even quicker....dont waste ya money...get some thing else fella..

ive also broken hollow chains and a tioga revolver crankset whilst sprinting too...light is overated..

I do not know If I am more surprised at you using the word sprint,or that you have broken something :P mind you beating gravity,at your weight, whilst getting up the slope at gorleston seafront does put a lot of load on equipment
