Just wondered how hard wearing they are,not going to get too much use to be honest but wondered as to the durability, plus I like the gold colour

there is an older gent in norwich used to swear by them but then he was minted and proberly didn't care about how long they lasted im guessing half the life of a normal cassette easily

Half the time of a normal cassette for me would be about 7 years
I have had my xt m737 about that long
Good value for money then....at least for me
And on my klein that goes out about 1 time in a fortnight then it will last even longer

Dad was very unimpressed with his on his road bike :-(

Shifting ability and longevity – I can’t quantify either though sorry, just his opinion :? For info he normally runs campag.

WD :D

I'm sure when i first joined here there was a thread about an aluminium cassette getting trashed in one ride.

Go buy that " reconditioned aluminium cassette! " ( insert wince HERE ) Learning the lesson that they're poo and last 10 minutes will be priceless and last you a lifetime!

Given how much faster ans easily front chainrings wear out and get 'chipped' at every time you shift then I imagine with the cassette, given you would shift across it a lot more than you would a chainset, is not going to last too long. Possible quite a good reason why they are not prominent in Shimano's line up and Ti/Steel are used instead. I think it's the shifting that punishes them far more than the actual riding on them.
