Coll bike! Tell me more about that Moots in the background though (Mk.2 Fournales mmmm..., I have something similar in the making)

I've got two sets of those, a medium and a large. One disc brake adapter since I sold the other to a guy who had been searching forever (figured I would be nice since I don't run disc at all) What fork are you planning on using?? :D

I'll post a new pic of the moots or a new threat detailing it once I get the rear HS-33 set back up properly and the tire on.

My best guess was a WTB roller cam (but just because that's the only roller cam I've ever heard of) so I'm glad to hear it actually is.

This frame would have been U-brake equipped originally yes. I'd love to throw some m900…

I would say M730 XT… That frame with U brake studs seems to be 90 or 91. So XT is more period correct. With M900, Shimano stopped the U brake production

Ask to Mojo ti on this forum… I think he'll got a Vorace or Fournales fork for sale…

I dated it as a 1992 Xizang LE, noby with definite knowledge has confirmed yet.
So M900 is in ;-)

I've seen some with black kit, Amber walls, and M735 kit and they look really smart with either some MAGs or curve black forks

Does it have a serial number? That will tell the year, should be under the bottom bracket... But yeah, id' be thinking 92.

Also if it is U-brake then you won't be ablr to use canti's or V's... i think.

I'd slap a set of decals on it, give it a clean and leave it as-is.

As others have said - there's a lot of thoughtful upgrades/changes on there that show it was well-used and properly cared for; it's a working bike, not a show-queen. I think it's awesome (but then I've always had a soft spot for Xizangs)

I too am curious to know how much it cost you :)

G18137 is the serial number, also stamped "made in the USA"

although I'm guessing I can tell it's a 18" I'm not so confident the SN shows a year.

I'm not really sure if I'm going to do anything other than slap some decals on it. I'm probably either going to sell it outright and buy something less.... nice, or trade for something modern. I have a bunch of retrobikes all around me that I already do ride and I think this one will turn into a garage queen.

Ah yes sorry, xizangs don't always...or at all tell the year, toom many zaskar threads... there is a whole thread about xizang serial numbers trying to figure it out and yeah, it doesn't. Sorry my bad.

New photos....

Well it's a Moots Rigor Mootis build (currently sporting a Fox F100) but will get replaced with a large Mk.2 Fournales (disc setup), full retromod Syncros build. I do want do get a lot of changes done to it (will post some pics when I'm done). Btw. I do have a Hurrycat Vorace fork but it's in shambles right now, got it off a french forum, the carbon steering tube de-laminated and the owner tried to fix it badly, now I have to re-place it properly.
