My son is learning mandarin, and says it would be pronounced Sheezang, meaning "Treasure House of the West". The 'sh' being not as sharp as we would usually pronounce it.

Brilliant thanks, I think sheezang it is from now on, definitely not X-zang!

The other good news is the bike is here, it cost £50 to ship and insure it properly but that's all forgotton now. The seller packaged it so well, took an hour to unpack.

To sum up what I've found so far:

The frame is in very good nick, 16" c-c 21.5" top tube c-c!!!!

The black fliteTi is in very good condition, I imagined it would be ripped to shreds as it was cut out of the photo, but not so, what's the value of this, I'm not keen on them to sit on?

Forks working a OK as would be expected for Marzocchi's TBH. They're Z3 100mm flylights.

Seat post, currently shimmed for a mint 26.4 uncut 425mm black synchros, may not keep as no lay back, anyone know the size of the seat post tube in the frame?

The rear mech is in aesthetically good nick, but the drop out pivot has a lot of movement in it and the jockeys are knackered! It doesn't have a long enough cage to tension the chain with the 32T cassette. This may well go up for sale, value?

The U-brake is XT gen II and has a brace across the posts, may put upside down maguras on it if it doesn't work very well.

The front tyre is an old michelin, possibly original I wonder tread pattern looks old school. Front brake is in working order, no bleeding required, hub bearings perfect.

Shifters are black shimano with no markings, numbered gear indicators under the bars 8sp, barrel adjusters on both sides (1 cog up/down only per push at the back) possible STX?

Rear tyre, handlebars, stem, grips, are a POS.

Cassette is all steel 32T.

Headset, stem, bar grips need changing.

Overall I'm very happy, giving it a clean and removing some of the tatty stickers.
