My mate has a 98 GT Timberline frame/fork he said I can buy for a tenner. Is it worth it or should I just leave it?

For £10 it has to be worth it doesn't it? Not the most desirable of bikes but still very capable.

What's the condition of the frame?

Its in nice condition. I've known it from new and in about 01 he stripped it and used the components for another build.

If it is a good frame and you want a bike, yes, why not, far better a useful thing than an awkward lump of metal hanging around.

It's one of those where if you've got a load of kit lying around you've took off other bikes, and you just want a bog-standard pub bike that won't attract too much attention, or you won't be too gutted if it gets nicked.

But not one you'd want to spend more than £50 for bits on top.

If I do get it, I'll probs make it in to a scrapheap build to be honest. I really like the gt triple triangle frames I've always wanted one. I could leave the timberline and save some pennys and go Zaskar?

The fork alone is worth that. Get hold of it and if you decide you don't want it sell it on here. The later ones are full cromo with a butted main frame and ride nicely. I have a '99 that I've SS'd!!!!

yeah true, I believe this one is a cro-mo one. I say its a 98 but not 100% sure. Its a metalic red with like mustard colour decals. if that helps?

The frame is teh heart of any build.
If your heart is set on a zaskar why not just wait and get teh frame you know you want. OK so a zaskar frame is going to be £65-£125 depending on condition, year, etc.
You could end up building a timberline with quality parts then later on having to transfer then onto a zaskar. Then dispose of the timberline frame

I'd only build the timberline with cheap/free parts as use it as a pub bike/leaving at the station bike.
