aaaahhh the curse of the devonites

don't know why but as soon as you get south of london and west of brighton..they don't like sending things by courier

Sold for less than £20 so just a little more than the new lights he fitted probably cost him.

So who got it seemed a bargin.

If I could have got down there I would have nabbed it.

Look at the photo, it looks hardly used. Frame & forks seem
unmarked and the skinwall tyres have a lot of tread.

So help me understand this....if these bikes are going at such a great bargain in a country as small as yours why aren't you taking public transportation or driving down to get them? Is petro to expensive? Do you not have a way to get there? Are the roads bad?

Er GM

1, Devon is like our equivalent of going to Alabama
2, Public transport is pretty awful down there
3, It would cost about £70 in petrol and 8hours driving there and back.
4 The roads in that part of the world are awful (that's probably why the
guy had a GT !!

Bike did look a beauty tho, if he'd been up for courier I would have
grabbed it.

Nah, Cornwall is our Deep South, Devon is too close to civilisation, and more like Florida with the old folk on the riviera. They don't a have a problem with outsiders, unlike the Cornish. And before anyone Cornish complains, the very fact that you've mastered the internet is enough evidence to show that you're above average for Kernow

The public transport isn't an issue - it's on the Penzance to Edinburgh direct train (definitely one for the tourists that, almost one end of the country to the other in a day). Driving isn't an issue - it's at the end of the M5 motorway, although fuel is sky high at the moment. Any excuse puts the price up, right now it's Libya. The roads are alright - just dodge the pensioners.

Then there's the cream teas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cream_tea

What I'm trying to say is I'm pretty annoyed at myself for missing this one, even if it would have been to move on again for little profit. It looked great, would've taken me a little over an hour to get down there, and I could've had a spot of lunch in a nice part of the world. Hopefully it went to a Retrobiker. I really don't understaand why people don't want to box up a bike - must be the 'hassle' of getting a big enough box. Either that or it's a throwback to the free-ads paper way of selling.

i will drive for a bargain but i factor in the fuel price, as has been said fuel is stupid at the moment and even if the taxes and problems (like libya etc) sort them selves out the price will still remain high. have you ever seen it drop?

i bought my muddy fox for £45 and i cost me 1/3 of a tank of diesel (£32) to get it from bristol and back so it effectively cost me £77 but i dropped a frame at Argos at the same time which would have cost £15 to send by post so i reason that the bike cost £62 which i thought was still a good price.

if the bike is worth it i will drive but even for me in southampton to where the GT is would have been 3 hours each way on not great roads for a mid range not particularly sought after bike (even though condition is great). bargain if you are within an hours drive and you love GT's i reckon.

:)

Yep. If that would've been a '95 in Team Scream I'd be properly miffed. I'm hankering.
