[Malicious Afterthought]

Gentlemen,

Please, forgive my first post being a request for help and information.

I've recently (within the past hour) taken delivery of a GT RTS frame (I am most pleased). It doesn't have the rear brake rocker. Is it possible to use V-Brakes on the rear, or should I just buy some Magura hydraulic rim brakes to use instead?

Furthermore, could anyone inform me if the bottom bracket and seatpost sizes are the same as my dark blue/black (age unknown, pre 199 Kona Fire Mountain?

bottom bracket is 73mm shell as opposed to 68 on your kona. seat post will be 26.8mm

v's or maguras will be fine, or stick a wanted ad up for the canti rocker. they are still around, but not cheap

What is the serial number (under the bb) so we can date it, as the rear brake rocker changed (different on the old cro-mo ended RTS's to the alu ones).

H(?)5L042806 is the serial number, and it's an RTS 3 so I guess the rear triangle is cro-mo.

Many of the C'dale dealers here still stock Force 40s. Don't they sell them over there?

Had a look at it, it's crack free, albeit a little careworn, with usual scratches and so on.

So far, I plan to transplant most of my stuff from the old bike onto the RTS. Final build will hopefully be:

Marzochi XCR forks (or something, i'll have to double check this, but I want to change them as they are quite hefty)
Club roost flat bar, some purple alloy bar ends I found in my bag of bits,
XT thumbshifters,
LX V front brake with lever,
Dia Compe PC5 rear brake lever with STX Special Edition cantilevers
ART stem (dunno where that came from),
Onza Mongo headset
LX SPDs
STX Special Edition cranks with 44t Middleburn big ring, 32,22 standard inner rings
8 speed back block,
L Rear Mech,
STX SE front Mech
STX SE front wheel hub on soemthing
XT rear hub on someting else for rear wheel.

Sorry to have asked questions and then disappeared, its been a busy few days.

Could I inquire of you what the seatpost size should be, and also what size seat post clamp I would require? Also, is my STX front mech (a bottom pull one) going to be of any use?

So far, I think I only need to get a rear brake, a bottom bracket and a seatpost and clamp.

I'll stick some pics up when I've built it (hopefully by the end of the week.)

My seatpost is 27.0, but it's an older RTS 2.

If the cable routing is the same as mine then you'll need a top pull front mech rather than bottom. There should be a cable stop about half way down the seat tube if it's top pull.
