If he's associated with a bike shop, and I you are right in saying he is, why cant he just say 'old stock - moving it on' :?

Who's to say that this isn't his personal bike that he doesn't have time to ride? It's not so unusual for bike-shop employees to build dream bikes at discount rates, then move them on through lack of use. We see plenty of that on this forum.

I think you're being too hasty in calling him dishonest. He has other sales for old stock that are described as such.

Irrespective of his bike knowledge he looks to be a quality seller - one of the nicest listings I've seen, well laid out, quality pictures etc.

As I said, I don't. My first mtb was a Team Avalanche, but to be honest I was never that into GTs.

That seems realistic. But you seem to have become more certain since you wrote that. Reading the previous thread there's a range of opinions.

Certainly, anyone who's seen a few eBay auctions and wasn't born yesterday takes words like "rare" with a pinch of salt...

Agreed, it's too high. But then again, what would a pristine Middleburn crankset, M900/910 derailleurs, Middleburn hubs, XTR Easton post, sunset rims, etc fetch individually on the 'Bay or here on the classifieds?

The guy is obvioulsy a genuine seller who really does think this is a one off special from GT because his mate sold them for a few years....
He genuinely pulls the girls with it and yes, if you push the special button on the bars, jets come out from under the saddle :roll:

Well, this circus led me to look at his other items and i found a nice ControlTech seatpost that i'd been after for a while. He set me up a BIN auction and the post arrived on my desk today. In my book he's alright
